How To Make A Website For Free - Using All Free Tools To Create a Website

In this article, I will explain to you one of the many ways of how to make a website for free. Have you been thinking about some ideas for making a website but you just did not know where to start or you did not want to pay a lot of money? Well, there's good news. Some of the websites out there actually allow you to create a website for free.

These sites allow you to make a website for free because they will use some advertising on the site which will allow them to make the money required for them to stay in business. The websites I am referring to are not "here today gone tomorrow" kind of websites, they are highly trusted. Google actually runs a free website building service that is at your disposal.

Web Hosting

The actual steps to make a website for free are quite easy and I will explain them in detail.

Template Decision: Various websites have a different number of templates available to choose from. If you would like to have quite a few customizable options then this might be an important factor when researching website builders. When you use a template you are basically given the entire framework and the only thing that you will need to do is add the theme and colors that are the most appropriate for whatever it is you are creating the site for.

Content Creation: After you have picked the template you want to use, the next step is creating content. The actual content itself could be of any sort such as blog posts, pictures, articles, videos, or anything else you would like to have that makes your website unique. This all might sound complicated at first, but it is actually very easy. Almost all of the website creating programs that are available will have tutorials in case you feel lost.

Website Hosting: After you have finished creating the starting point for your website you will want to get it online so people can start checking it out. This is known as website hosting. The price for this service can vary but generally is very cheap and could even be free depending on which website builder you have decided to use. Again, this might be a deciding factor when researching how to make a.com website for free. Most free services, however, will limit your bandwidth which means you will be limited on the amount of content and pages you can have in total.

For a beginner, building a free website is a great starting point. Free websites usually do not look as professional as a website that is paid or one made using an HTML editor, but if the website you have created starts to generate traffic and you would like to upgrade it you could always get with your builder and see what plans they have available.

When considering how to make a website for free remember that website creation is not only for design professionals anymore. HTML coding is also a skill that is no longer required. The technological advances of today have made it possible for anyone with any type of computer to build a great looking free website. Remember that when making a free website it is all about the experience that you gain. These steps are how to make a website for free.

How Much Does an Average Website Cost?

This is a question that is often asked by businesses that are trying to price out companies for web design and development. Before we get started I want to note that there is a difference between website design, website development, and web marketing. The differences are listed below:

Website Design - creating the overall layout, design/look and feel of a website. Developing the flow of how a page will look or where the content of the site will be placed. Website Development - Taking the website design and bringing it to life via HTML/CSS and/or other web scripting/programming languages. Also, website development is the process of adding additional functionality to an existing website such as eCommerce, content management systems, and etc... Web Marketing - taking the designed and developed website and promoting it via the web. Using outlets such as social media, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Pay Per Click, and etc...

Web Hosting

These services are usually intertwined when a company or person is explaining that they need web work done. With that out of the way let's go into the reasons why web companies/freelancers charge what they charge and how they come up with their price.

How is price determined?

There are many aspects to consider when pricing out a project, but the main one is time. A freelancer/web firm will listen to you (the prospective client) explain the website of your dreams and from there they will base the price around what was discussed.

Some things that will increase the price are, the time frame in which the project is to be completed, support, consultation, or detouring from the original scope of work.

Other factors that go into creating a price quote for web services are the amount of resources, experience, and knowledge of the professional(s). The more value that can be offered the higher the price quote will be. For instance freelancers are often only equipped to perform one or two services while a team of web professionals are prepared to deliver in all areas.

Solutions such as templates, website builders, or other out of the box services can be priced fairly cheap due to the lack of customization. Also, note that some of these services have recurring monthly or yearly fees.

How will I be billed?

There are a couple of common ways to bill; one is to require half up front and half on delivery of the project. Let's say that the grand total of your project is 00.00 before any work could be initiated you would be required to put down 50%. The other 50% is due after the agreed upon scope of work is completed. Other variations can be a 50% upfront, 25% on first set of deliverables, and the final 25% on project completion.

Another way is to be billed hourly. Being billed hourly seems to be the less popular way when getting a website developed. Most of the time billing hourly comes into play when providing advice or after a project runs longer than expected. Monthly fees usually occur with web hosting packages or if you agree to some type of maintenance plan.

What does the standard website package come with?

This will be based on what you have explained to the professional and what they can offer you. If you express that you need a website redesign you will get website design. If you say that you need to rank higher on Google or Yahoo then web marketing will be the primary focus.

As stated before each scenario and each company or freelancer is limited to the skills that they have acquired. Generally speaking if you have no website at bare minimum you should be offered a domain and hosting package (to keep your files and make them visible by visitors). Although, the company that you choose to take care of your web project may not have in house servers they usually know or work closely with a web host.

Should I budget for my web project?

The answer is yes, however if you have never had a site developed before it may be wise to ask others website owners how much they spent on their website. Ask others how the process went and what items/materials you need before you go calling every web company in town. Keep in mind that websites should be built with room to scale with the growth of your company, unless specified otherwise. Today your need may only be to have an online location to display information about your products or services and tomorrow you may need to provide a way for your customers to order online. A well thought out website will be able to handle this transition.

Determine what you need your site to do for you - do you need to inform others on the services or types of products that you sell? Do you need to sell items online? Do you need to create an online community revolved around a theme or set of topics? Write out how a website will help leverage your business, or if you are doing business solely on the web explain in greater detail the process on how you will make money or see a return. A brief explanation is always nice to hand over to a web specialist so that they can have a little guidance and understanding on what is valuable to you, also it will let them make suggestions based on what has worked for previous clients.

Show me the numbers... what can I expect to pay?

If you are like me you want to have a general idea on how much something cost so you do not have to waste time on calling around only find out that you are not prepared. So, I have put together some generic numbers to help illustrate how much you should expect to spend. Keep in mind that these prices are not in relation to any one company they are just the ranges of what I have seen or heard. Also, remember that each firm/freelancer charges differently, you may have to pay all up front, half, 25% or make some type of deposit to get work started.

On with the prices!

Simplistic Brochure Website (next to no functionality/no dynamic content)
This is a great place to start out at if you have never had a website created before. Typically the services included are a custom web design and HTML/CSS coding to bring the design to life. If anything such as a contact form, animation(s), or anything extra outside of the design and development scope you will be charged extra. Remember these are the lowest prices I have seen or heard of, I am not claiming that you will receive superior craftsmanship at these prices but it will certainly get you a website.

Freelance price: 0.00 +
Web firm price: 00.00 +

Expert Advice: Always strive to have work done by the most professional and service friendly. The higher price does not always reflect skill or more importantly people skills. A lot of my clients are ones who have made a switch from a company that never answers the phone or doesn't do what they are supposed to do. Dig deeper than the portfolio, do not ignore it just dig a little deeper and see how he/she handles business.

eCommerce Website (add/edit/delete products or information)
eCommerce websites can and should be used in addition to your physical store front. The only difference is that the physical more than likely closes at night and the online location stays open day and night - year round. When looking to get an eCommerce website built you should consider the ease of use (adding/deleting/editing items in the inventory), stability, and how well does it integrate with your current site (assuming you have one).

Freelance Price: 0.00 +
Web firm Price: 00.00 +

Expert Advice: If you do not have a 00.00 plus budget I would suggest going with a freelancer or student. Start out small and upgrade! It makes no sense to pour tons of money into something that you have no idea on where it will lead you. If you are a start up company focus on bringing in revenue first and come back and get the bells and whistles. However, make sure that you will end up with a professional and presentable site; no one will buy if the site doesn't look legit. Remember, money doesn't automatically go into your bank account if you spend 00.00 bucks on a website. Evaluate where your business is now and think about where you would like your website to help take it in the near future.

Interactive Website (add/edit/delete content, publish articles, visitor engagement)
Interactive websites are websites that keep your attention and have you coming back hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, etc... These sites are ones that display your favorite celebrity gossip, catch up on sports scores, or watch funny videos online. These sites are database driven and heavy on the dynamic content. Because, these sites are reliant on a database and require heavy back end programming the price sky rockets. Also, these sites are often found by search engines and have a way of self marketing themselves based off of their content.

Freelance Price: N/A
Web Firm Price: ,000.00 +

Expert Advice: If you have never had a website built before I would suggest looking for free or low priced alternatives. There are plenty out of the box solutions that will get the ball rolling, you can always upgrade later. Also, if you are just starting out on the web creating or finding fresh content may be overwhelming at first. Sites like these tend to snowball and turn into a frequently visited site, unless you have tons of marketing dollars to back it up.

No matter which way you plan to go always think ahead and be prepare yourself for the amount of time and money you may have to put in for your business to take that next step, or to serve your customers better and faster. As I stated earlier in this article evaluate where your business is now and think about where you would like your website to help take it in the near future. Define your goals up front and be sure not to over or under do it and if you are not sure, always get a second opinion.

Website Functionality Depends Upon Web Design and Development

How well your website works has a lot to do with how well it has been designed and developed. Functionality needs to be built in from the ground up to ensure that each element loads quickly, performs efficiently and keeps all information safe and secure. Talented web developers are accustomed to using the latest technology available in order to design websites that are fast and functional, as well as looking great.

While a great looking website with lots of animation, flash and imagery is great to look at, what's the point in a great looking website if it isn't easy to use? Once the initial show is over, will visitors stay on your site if they can't find what they are looking for? Even worse, what if an element of your site has not been designed properly and breaks, or displays badly across different browsers? Experienced web designers know about these pitfalls and test their designs in a variety of ways to ensure that their sites load quickly and continue to perform well for visitors throughout their whole experience on your site.

Web Hosting

Additionally, web functionality covers how well your site performs in the search engines. Good web developers are constantly monitoring the latest updates to good SEO practices and incorporating this knowledge into their design process. For example, special care needs to be taken over the functionality of websites designed with Flash landing pages, as search engines can't penetrate some of these pages. Visitors using certain types of browsers, or accessing your website from a mobile device such as an iPhone should also be able to use your site completely, and your website should be designed with this in mind.

Issues with functionality of a website cause thousands of businesses lost customers each day, as visitors click away because one or more areas of the site don't display properly or work the way they should. Imagine if your contact form couldn't be sent? Or if your navigation buttons didn't display and there was no other way for users to know which area of the page to click next?

Poorly designed and badly functioning web sites create a terrible impression of your business, so isn't it worth thinking about these things during the initial design rather than trying to fix them later?

5 No Cost Ways to Get Your Website Noticed

If you own a website then you are certainly concerned with getting it noticed and increasing your traffic. However, you might not have a large budget for advertising or marketing and simply don't know what to do to get your website noticed without spending a lot of money. Web Hosting

Submitting your website to directories is generally free and all you have to do is provide your website's URL, a brief description, and then your site will be listed in the directory for people to browse. In addition, not only will people be able to browse the listings, but your site will also have more one way links pointing back to your site that will increase your rankings in the search engines.

Tip #2 Submit to Search Engines

If you want to get your site noticed then you want to make it easy on web surfers to find your site. So, submit your site to the search engines to have it indexed. Then , when people search the web for certain keywords they just might find your site and drop by to take a look.

Tip #3 Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal links are another good idea if you are interested in increasing your search engine rankings. Simply trade links with other websites and you host their link on your site and they host your link on their site. This does not take much effort or time and once you have the links you will basically have free advertising.

Tip #4 Include Your URL Everywhere

Your URL needs to be on all types of communication you use. For example, make sure your URL is included on your stationary, business cards, in all of your e-mails, and the like. When your URL is posted everywhere you will surely increase your site's traffic.

Tip #5 Email List

You can create an email list from all the visitors that have visited your website and periodically send them updates advertising different services or specials. Make it easy to unsubscribe, too. Before you know it you will have more people visiting your site and others recommending your site as well.

Web Hosting Website Migration Process - Moving From One Web Hosting Company to Another

This article provides a detailed step by step process for migrating a website from one web hosting provider to the next without disrupting the delivery of either the website or email services associated with the domain.

A summary of the steps involved in the process are:

Web Hosting

Make sure you have all necessary information Request set up of the hosting account with the new provider Replicate DNS with the new provider Re-delegate the domain name Copy the site content Test the site on the temporary domain Configure email services Change DNS records. Migration completed

Before you begin make sure you have everything you will need to complete the migration. This includes, among other things:

Domain password or registry keys Access to the web hosting account on the existing web hosting provider Ability to perform database dumps on the existing web hosting provider All SSL certificate files (if there is one) Checked that the hosting platform is compatible (i.e. versions of applications, Linux vs windows). List of all existing email addresses Setup the web hosting account with the new web host

Make sure that the website hosting account is setup with the new web hosting provider. Setting up the account will not interfere with the operation of the existing live site. When the web hosting account is configured with the new host, you should receive all the access details for adding content to the account.

DNS Configuration

We highly recommend redelegating the domain name to the name servers of the new hosting company in advance of moving any other services, this is commonly referred to as the DNS.

DNS is usually handled by the same company that handles either website or email hosting or both. It is however technical independent and is a service that can be handled by different companies.

DNS is where the change is made made when a website is switched from one hosting provider to another.

We suggest changing the DNS to be hosted by the new provider but set the DNS records to continue to point all services at the existing hosting service provider. Once the DNS records are hosted by the new provider, change the TTL (Time To Live) attribute to reduce it from the standard 24 hours to 10 minutes. This allows us to make changes between providers in as little as 10 minutes once the services are ready to be migrated. This is a big improvement on the standard 24 hours since the level of disruption is greatly minimised and the risk of users being spread between old and new sites is so much lower.

We first need to make sure we have an accurate copy of the records from the existing host. The best way to do this is to request a copy of the records from the current host or DNS provider. If this is not possible, with a reasonable knowledge of the services in use on the domain name, it is usually possible to collect most of the necessary information that you need using tools such as dig or nslookup.

Site Copying

Once DNS migration has been initiated we have approximately 24-48 hours before the domain can be redelegated to the new hosting providers name servers. This will give us ample time to move the content across to the new servers. There are essentially two ways this can be completed depending on what information we have. If you have FTP/SSH details then you will be able to log in and copy the files across. Important things to note:

Databases? Make sure a dump is taken and saved in the home directory Provided you have SSH access, the easiest way to copy the content across is to tar up the entire home directory and then SCP it across.

A simple way of copying an entire website if you have FTP access is using LFTP. Login to the server the account is on as root and:

$ su - $ cd public_html $ lftp lftp:~> user Password: lftp:/> ls (just to make sure you're in the correct folder, otherwise cd to the folder containing the website) lftp:/> mirror

This will mirror the entire contents of the website into your current folder. You still need to manually copy any databases across.

Without SSH/FTP access you can copy the site using Wget if you keep in mind a few caveats: Wget will only work when there is static content on the webpage, no dynamic pages (eg php, asp, shtml), no databases. If the site contains Javascript or Flash you might find you miss parts of the content.

Site Testing

Once the website has been copied test it on the temporary URL (as provided in the introductory email) for the hosting account setup and compare against original website to ensure everything is working correctly. If anything is not working, make sure it is fixed at this stage.

It is important that you confirm with the new hosting provider that you have completed your testing of the website.

Email Configuration

Assuming that all email services are to be migrated, a full list of email addresses that are required must be provided to your hosting company. If mail services are remaining with the existing host, or they are already handled externally it is important that you let your hosting company know.

Once they have been provided your web host should supply you with new username and passwords.

Note that if email services are to be migrated in most cases you will be changing the username and password details for email services. This change is the one that will have the greatest effect on the end user of the hosting services and it's important that it is communicated properly. If peoples email breaks these days, it's often more disruptive to their work than cutting of their telephone.

We've found that the best way to ensure no email is lost in the migration process is to leave the existing configuration in place, so that the mail client continues to check the old mail server, then add a new profile that checks the new mail server concurrently. This should usually be left in place for up to 7 days after the change over. It will ensure that any mail that still does make its way to the old location will be collected.

Finalise Migration

Once everything has been checked and rechecked we can switch the site across our servers for web and email hosting (by switching the DNS).

You should contact your hosting provider to confirm a time to make the change.

If the website uses a database it may be necessary to complete a final synchronisation of database immediately prior to changing the DNS.

Complete!

That's it, you're all done. You site migration should be complete and all traffic flowing to the new host with a minimum of disruption.

Why Do I Need So Many Passwords For My Website?

How many passwords do you have associated with your website? As a website owner, you want to have access to every technical part of your website, in case you lose your developer! You may find that you have passwords for a domain name registrar, a web hosting control panel, FTP, a database or two, and various others. But, why is that?

Just like you may go to many different services for your car, it takes many services to have a website. For your car, you go to one business to change the oil, another to work on your transmission and another to do body work. It is possible that one business could have people on staff to do all these tasks. It's the same for your website. The following is an explanation of the different technical areas of your website that may have a username and password.

Web Hosting

1. Your Domain Name
Your domain name is a group of characters that the internet, as a system, uses to locate your unique website on your web host. A person anywhere in the world can request your site, and find your site by following the directions associated with your domain name. You can move your website to a different web server, change the address associated with your domain name and know that people will still find your site.

Your domain name is not something that anyone but you should be able to access or change. So, you have an account with a domain registrar to keep other people from hijacking your domain name. If your domain name is registered through your web host, you may be able to make changes in your domain name account from the same place you make changes to your hosting account.

1 Password

2. Your Web Host Control Panel
Your web hosting company will most likely give you a place where you can go online to pay your bill, change your billing address, add new domain names, add a database to your account, add or change email addresses, and many other functions. This is your control panel or your account. Some web hosts give you one place to do everything. Other web hosts split it up and give you two sets of usernames and passwords. The reason they do that is that you might have an office person take care of the accounting issues and a technical person take care of emails and databases, etc. If one person is doing both functions, that person may find it cumbersome to have to log into two different places.

1 Password

3. FTP Access
FTP is a special connection to the files that make up your website on your server. Anyone can get your website to see it in their browser, but everyone shouldn't be able to get to it to make changes. FTP is the connection that allows you to move files in and out of your site. So, it is very important that your FTP access be controlled through a username and password.

Some web hosting systems use the same username and password for both the control panel and your FTP access. Other web hosting systems allow you to set up many FTP usernames and passwords to give different people access to different parts of your website. That way you can control who gets to change what on your website. Also, if you need to take FTP access away from someone, if everyone has a different username and password, shutting an account down for one person doesn't affect everyone's access.

1 Password to X Passwords, depending on your hosting package.

4. Databases
Your website may have no database, one database, or many databases. You might have a database if you have an online catalog, or a forum, or a chat, calendar of events, or other types of lists. If you use a Content Management System for your website, your whole website may be run from a database. Again, it is very important to control who can add or delete information from the database; so, each database is controlled by a user name and password. In some web hosting systems, each database has the same password. In other web hosting systems, each database has its own password.

0 - X passwords

5. Web Services
Your website may be linked to payment services, such as PayPal; emailed newsletter software, such as MailerMailer; customer account software, such as SalesForce; event registration software, such as Regonline, and other systems. These systems are built and hosted by other companies. Each one of these systems will require it's own username and password.

0 - X passwords

Protect your Passwords
No matter how many passwords you have, it can cause you a long struggle, if your passwords are compromised. Here are some things to be careful about:
- Don't use the same password for everything. If someone cracks one, they've cracked everything.

- Don't use a blank password, or the word "password," or the word "secret." These are the first things that an attacker will try because they are so common.

- Don't put your passwords on a sticky note - anywhere.

- Don't put your passwords in a file called Passwords, or even in a file that follows a pattern that is obviously for passwords. Clever attackers can search your whole computer.

- Don't send a username and password by email. Put them in separate emails. Or better yet, email one and text one.

How to Create a Website Address

One of the most common questions asked by those looking to create their own website is how to create a website address so in this article we're going to focus on just that question.

Website addresses, also known as domain names, are unique. What I mean is, if one person owns a website address, then nobody else can.

Web Hosting

So the first trick is to find a suitable website address, then the second is to actually create it.

Good website addresses tend to have the following things in common:

1) Top Level Domain

Website addresses can end in all sorts of things - with.com being the most popular. Lesser known endings like.tv or.us tend to be cheaper to create but harder for people to remember.

Because of this I recommend you buy what is known as a "top level domain" - that is one ending in.com,.net or.org.

Typically.com is for a company,.net for an online service (like email or web hosting) and the.org is for a non-profit organization like a charity for church.

2) Short And Easy To Remember

Try to make your web address easy to remember to encourage your visitors to come back again and also to increase word of mouth.

3) Consider Keywords

Research has shown that if you make a URL that contains the exact phrase your customers are searching for you will increase the number of people who click your listing in the search engines. As a result you will increase your visitor numbers.

So if you're selling a course on dog training, so your ideal customers will be looking for phrases like "dog training" in the search engines, try to include this phrase in your domain name.

An example of all the three rules so far could be EasyDogTraining.com as a web address to create.

I suggest coming up with a list of 20-30 possible web addresses because as already mentioned, they are all unique, and you'll be amazed how many of the possibilities you come up with are already registered!

Once you've got your list, head on over to BetterWhois.com and type each domain name in, one at a time. This free service will tell you if the web address you just typed in is available or not.

If not, cross it off your list.

At the end you should have a short list of available website addresses from which to choose your final domain choice.

Actually creating the web address is easy. You need no license, no registration with the government etc, is required. You just go to a company known as a "domain registrar" and place an order for the website address you want.

Examples of domain registrars are GoDaddy and 123-reg.co.uk but there are literally thousands out there and a quick search in your favorite search engine should pull up a long list. There is a lot of competition so searches on "cheap domains" and so on can reveal some real bargains.

You'll pay just a few dollars to create your website address, provide a few personal details to register you as the official and legal owner and then within a few days your website address will be made and available for you to use.

And that's how easy it is to create a website address!

Why Your Website Needs a Website Seal

How can web security seals help you in your online business anyway? First, you have to understand that keeping an online business is no walk in the park - as you might already know! You have to be aggressive in your market, as you will most likely compete with a thousand other competitors because of the Internet's global nature. With the vast quantity of other aggressive businesses out there, directly, and indirectly competing with you, you just can't win if you don't care enough and have enough sense to do everything you can to get sales. You have to believe in yourself and in your own business, and make sure that everything that can be applied to help you in your venture is being used and taken advantage of.

Now, you might be experiencing a lot of visitors to your online store. It's the Internet after all, and a vast number of users are always out to look for something worth their while. You want every single one of them to try out your product of course, but you know that isn't possible. You do know that it's possible to get a fraction of those visitors to your site to become a new customer via advertising and applying other expensive marketing methods that will hopefully work out and not end up being a giant waste of cash.

Web Hosting

You may or may not succeed with your marketing methods. What's frustrating is that you have really no way to make sure. You can take intelligent punts, but they will in the end be punts still. But what if there was a simpler, inexpensive way to get more sales without more traffic? Increasing your sales in a legal and affordable way without having to resort to expensive Google PPC marketing or other marketing methods? It's very much within your grasp.

All you have to do is apply for certification to a reputable web security seal company. They essentially test your business on how well-secured and private it is. They are neutral, and give your website a "visible award" by awarding it a seal after it's been tested. You may be wondering why do you need one and how can they improve your sales?

Web security seals boost your sales by assuring those who visit your site that you are a legitimate business and very safe to buy from and deal with. You must understand that buyers will not purchase anything from a site they don't trust, and with the ease with which scammers can clone legitimate sites for the purposes of stealing information such as credit card data, customers have become quite worried about their online security. Hence it's become quit necessary to display a genuine online seal to ensure that you are getting those extra customers who would otherwise walk off. With a web seal, you are essentially telling them that your site has been tested, proven to be safe, that you are reliable, and that you are certainly ready to do business with them.

This will put you miles ahead of your competition who still have no idea what this beneficial tool can do for them. Improve your business further with a good web security seal today and apply for one now.

Website Security - Too Often Overlooked

These days, most companies have a pretty firm handle on the basics of network security. There have been too many successful hacking incursions into major companies not to, and the businessman who does not mind this part of his duties is all too often in for a nasty surprise as data is lost or stolen.

One aspect of company data protection that tends to get the short end of the proverbial stick, however, is the protection of the company's website. Certainly, if your website is constructed in such a way that it draws data from behind your company's firewall, that portion is protected (or at least it is in most cases, and if it isn't, it surely should be), but the portal itself is sometimes just left more or less to its own devices.

Web Hosting

This is a dangerous oversight, and if that describes you, your business, and the state of protection you've got in place for your company's web portal, then I urge you to reconsider.

While it's true that most companies do not have their websites constructed in such a way that key, or critical information actually resides the server that the website is actually hosted from, in many cases, the data to be found there is more important than you might first realize.

Just one such example would be a customer service forum. If you have such a forum in place, it can be a rich mine indeed, for a would-be hacker, and careful examination of forum posts can reveal a chink in the armor of your network security in general, which might be exploited.

If, not, a reasonable representation of your customer base can be gleaned from hacking into the forum's control panel and making off with your list of registered members, and if you have no customer-oriented forum, perhaps you've got a portal containing a forum allowing for communication between your employees. Facilitating the sharing of ideas, communicating with members of your supply channel, and the like. This too, can provide a rich vein of information for a would-be hacker.

If you are uncertain, or have any doubts about your website's security, make arranging for an audit of your web portal a priority, in order to identify potential security issues before they come back to haunt you.

Get the Best Drupal Hosting For Your Website

Have you spent incalculable hours trying to figure out a correct solution for your new website? You must have heard about drupal web hosting services? Drupal hosting service for a new website is really good and extremely reliable. But the real trouble is finding a right host; you really have to be careful when you make this decision.

The fundamental requirements of Drupal are a server with in the least PHP 4.3.5, MySQL 4.1 and Apache 1.3 or IIS 5. But to get the best drupal hosting it is recommended to have PHP 5.2, MySQL 4.1 or high and Apache 2.2 or IIS 7. The main feature of drupal is its URL rewriting system and this system is not going to work well with the IIS or Windows hosting. Therefore, you must find a host that functions on Apache. The development of PHP 4 has been halted for the moment and therefore it is considered to be insecure at this point. Though Drupal functions well at PHP 4 it is strongly recommended that you go in for PHP 5. Ensure that you are on the Apache 2.2 as both PHP 5 and Apache 2.2 function best together.

Web Hosting

Now you will find a lot of hosts meeting the server and software requirements. But software is just a small beginning to your list of requirements. Look for a host that functions on the high powered server hardware, it is inclusive of in the least 2 CPUs with 4 cores each that totals up to 8 cores! The hard drives must have a RAID10 configuration and at least 8 GB RAM. This will offer you the fastest speed for your website. There are a lot of hosts that function on the above stated hardware but their trouble is, overselling. Overselling will get your website a slow speed. The solution to the best drupal hosting is to find a host that guarantees no overselling service.

If you want to know how your server heaped up so much then it is recommended that you run your website through a performance grader. After you run the site, you can scroll down to the Grades section, Generation time. This number will show how fast the server could generate your webpage. The number must lie between.3 to.5 seconds; this is the best drupal hosting.

If you are new to drupal hosting then you must look for a host that has good experience in drupal hosting. There, if you have any issues, your host will be able to help you with the best drupal hosting service. This is a feature that most people do not even care to think about let alone consider a solid backup system! Many times we set up a cPanel to keep a backup, and we take a backup weekly. But this is not to be done; you must search for the best drupal hosting service that stores the backup in a different datacenter. This is known as CDP or continuous data protection.

These are some of the important tips that you must consider when you are on the lookout for Drupal hosting.

How to Create a User Friendly Website

Regardless of the purpose of your website, you always want it to be user friendly. There are all types of specializations available in this smarter world. For any professional reasons of acquiring a web identity through a website that's intended to achieve a great user experience, I guide you straight over to the relevant specialization dealing with web design and development as it makes more sense than pouring your own sweat and losing your own sleep behind something that's out of your knowledge domain.

Creating a good, user-friendly website can be done only through a professional skill, systematic planning and finally its implementation. Here is the best way to accomplish this purpose: FIND A RIGHT WEB DESIGN COMPANY FOR YOU!

Web Hosting

Here are the three important reasons why you should do it:

Here, I am excluding those who will wait till the end of the world and have their website built up through some internal divine inspiration! Barring these, all the dynamic, thrusting minds would like to settle for no reason for their website to not get completed in a timely and efficient manner. A professional web design firm would give you no worries in the matter of work delivery and its quality. An experienced company will finish the website as quickly as you need them to and that too with all your preferences and expectations gone through. I genuinely find it better to have an affordable, user-friendly web design getting you quick ROI than to linger on with an unprofessional, below-the-standards, or simply good-for-nothing web design that has not had a single penny spent on it. Your professional web host will not only provide you with the options raising the usability and functionality of your website but will also make sure that everything runs smooth for its visitors. A link not working or a picture not showing up, they will be there to fix everything. Your website will always look attractive and be professional and accessible. What more on the brighter side of it is that you will end up having more time for you to focus on your chosen business. You will not be so occupied working with design issues that you get no time to develop policies, answer emails, manage PR, or tackle other tasks. Therefore, considering a professional web development company, your extra time will be spent making yourself more available to other serious business tasks.

My last and final word would be "resort to a professional website designer and your road will be smooth." You will definitely get something attractive, user-friendly, and functional for your needs.

The Steps of Getting a Perfect Website For Your Business

In the recent years websites have become a necessity to almost everyone. Companies, businesses, individuals, even school kids have created personal websites or blogs.

What you need to consider before creating a website, are things such the cost, maintenance, content, web host, and purpose of the website. You'll need to ask questions like, what I do want the visitor to do when they're on your website, do you want to just provide the information about your business or do you want to them make a purchase, or maybe you're looking for their contact details.

Web Hosting

Firstly, you'll need to register a domain name which is roughly around for one year. Ideally you should purchase at least two years or more because that will benefit on search engines. Next would be a "cheap" hosting solution, getting this step right can save you from hours, even days of stress. The key here is RESEARCH, read people's posts in forums and blogs and see what's good and bad out there. I would spend half of day if not more doing this. Companies that have been around for 5+ years are usually pretty safe, but never pay for one full year the first time, and if they don't the monthly option then I would look elsewhere, unless it's recommendation from your friend.

So now you have all the technical things sorted out and you wonder what's next. Your website! Depending on your level of interest and knowledge in web design, you could buy a software package like Dreamweaver and try to do it yourself. That can be fairly time-consuming and could end up costing you more in the long run. The alternative option is to find a professional freelance web designer to do this for you. A professionally designed website should last you about 2+ years without any major changes. Have a look around on net, there's a lot good web designers out there, so finding someone that fits your budget shouldn't be difficult. Since most web designers have a portfolio site, you can see what they have done and whether or not his design style fits in with your business. An easy way to find out whether he/she is the right person for the job is to compare his work with your competitors' website. A good web designer should be able to do well in both design and coding, and some will also have knowledge of Search Engine Optimization. If possible try to hire someone who has some SEO knowledge, and let them know your preferred search keywords before he/she start building the website. A website that built with SEO in mind can greatly benefit from free search engine traffic. One thing to remember is always find out exactly what you will get in the end before starting the project.

Not all industries can see huge benefits in having a website, some can benefit more than the others but having one will certainly give you an edge over your competitors who doesn't, even if it just has your logo and contact details on there!

Website Hosting - What You Need to Keep in Mind

How would you have reacted if somebody had suggested imprinting your visiting card with a web address a few decades back? Incredulous for sure!

However, times have changed rapidly. Today, a web address is a business norm. In fact, individuals also prefer to go online to express themselves. This applies to guardians of our freedom of expression viz., newspapers and news channels. All of them appear to believe in physical, electronic and online / internet media. This is made possible through our friendly web host - a service provider who takes care of the formalities of porting your sites online. The process is called website hosting.

Web Hosting

A web host is all the more necessary for businesses since the days of "brick and mortar" businesses are passé. eCommerce sites are quite popular as are online shopping portals. However, these sites deal with sensitive information. Therefore, any business or organization opting to board the internet needs a web hosting service that needs to be selected very carefully to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks.

The first key aspect to gauge when selecting a web hosting service is its uptime. Businesses can't afford to experience high downtime since it will affect their online sales and damage their credibility with their customers. Hence, a website hosting provider that can guarantee higher levels of uptime is always in demand. The cost may be a little higher for the service. However, it is more than worth it.

The second aspect to consider is security. Does the web hosting service provide thorough security that is backed by fully secure solutions like firewalls and anti-viruses to safeguard and protect confidential information? This crucial question needs to be evaluated before you select a web host. To help make up your mind, you can check with other customers and also read reviews along side client testimonials for the web host provider. If they are favorable, then it might be a good decision to go for it.

Don't forget bandwidth when are deciding on a good web hosting service. The provider may offer umpteen features to lure you. However, it is of no use if there isn't enough bandwidth or the speed and strength of servers is not sufficient. Customers don't like websites constantly timing our or reporting strange errors. Therefore, make sure you are selecting a web hosting service that provides you excellent bandwidth.

Central to your decision is price or cost. Contrary to popular perception, price doesn't necessarily mean the lowest quoted rate in the market. In fact, if you were to go for the lowest quite, you might find yourself cheated of key website hosting features and elements unless you are really careful. When you evaluate price, check if it offers "bang for the buck". It might be a little higher than that quoted by other providers; however, if it provides "best-in-class" features like excellent uptime, total security and fast bandwidth, then it might be well worth paying for!

Of course, this is not an exhaustive list and contains some key aspects that you need to inspect before choosing the best website hosting service for you.

Setting Up Your Own Website

If you're planning to create a website, either for business of personal journal, make sure to read the following tips and tricks that can help you in realizing your dreams.

In these time and age, with thousands of websites spurting everyday, you need to find ways and means to promote your own else people will just disregard it as another clutter in the World Wide Web.

Web Hosting

Tip 1

Assuming that you've created a website that tackles love, friendship and romance, the first thing you have to do is to make the over all look of the website related to your topic.

If you don't have skills in altering and designing websites then don't fret, just hire a web designer or choose a web host that have pre-designed website templates.

Tip 2

Make sure that the content of your website are presentable, enjoyable and informative.

Websites about love and romances are so extensive that you have to be certain that what everything you're offering to readers are fresh, informative and easy to understand tips and advices. If you're the only writer in your website then this may be a challenge for you.

Here's where you start looking for an article writer, a freelance writer or even a ghostwriter that will help you in your website.

An article writer is pretty much hired to create articles for a certain product or website. A freelance writer does the same thing. Most of article writers and freelancers are still credited for their work at the websites information page or at the bottom of the articles.

Ghost writers are professional writers that are hired to create stories and web content articles. The main difference of ghostwriters with other writers is the fact that since they are "ghost" they are not credited for their work as often as possible.

They are employed by website owners to write articles, stories and even books regularly for the website to gain more visitors.

Make it a point that all the written articles submitted by ghostwriters or article writers are in accordance with the theme of your website. Ask them to use clever titles, easy to read and understand words and entertaining articles. If it's possible, let them highlight keywords or phrases that can be generated by major search engines.

Tip 3

Enlist your website to different directories that can help improve your website ranking. There are different kinds of directories that you can choose from.

Just make sure that you place you website on the correct category. So if you have the love and romance website, put it under love categories, romance categories, relationship categories and so on and so forth. Directories will gain you backlinks. Backlinks are great because they can directly prompt viewers and readers to your website.

Furthermore, you or your ghostwriter can write articles for different article directories.

Article directories will ask you (or your ghostwriter) to submit short articles about your topic and in return will allow you to either advertise your website or put a link of your site on the directory.

How to Find the Best Web Hosting for Your New Website

If you've done any research at all, then you know that finding the best web hosting for your money can be quite a challenge. The industry is full of competition, with more web hosting companies popping up all the time. So it can be a time-consuming task to find the best web hosting for your particular needs. However, there are a few things you should keep in mind as you research the different options.

Know Your Needs

Web Hosting

First, you should have a good understanding of what your particular needs are in terms of web hosting, for your site right now and also for what you might need in the near future. You want to be sure that the hosting plans you're looking into have all the features that you'll need to allow you to structure your website like you want to and you want to be sure that it leaves you some room to grow as you build out your site over time or add new features.

Either you or your webmaster should determine what requirements you'll need from a web host. The good thing is that once you establish your needs, it will help you narrow down the choices to those that are best suited for your new website.

Typical Price Range

The typical price range for affordable hosting that meets most people's needs is about - per month. Anything more than that and you should definitely compare the options to see what you're getting for the additional cost. Of course, if you're purchasing a dedicated server or some other high-end setup, the cost is substantially more.

Single Domain or Multiple Domains

For most people, a single-domain or reseller account is usually more than enough. A single-domain account will allow you to host one website and is usually the least expensive type of account.

For a few dollars more, coming in closer to the range, you can get a reseller account which will allow you to host multiple sites, each having their own login info and control panel. In fact, you could even provide web space to friends, family and other customers for a fee, hence the name "reseller account". Even though that's the case, many people use reseller account solely for themselves as an easy and affordable way to manage multiple sites.

Understand the Features

You should also compare the different features for different hosting plans. For instance, some plans offer more disk space or bandwidth than others and some services are set up for scripting and databases while others might not. That's why it's important to understand what your needs are and then compare that to the features offered by each hosting company.

You'll also need to keep in mind the type of server they offer and what software it runs (Linux or Windows are the typical options). This is because often times, software will only run on one type of system or another.

Finally, one more important consideration to keep in mind is the level of support the company provides. Ideally, they will have some form of 24 hour support, either via phone, email, or online chat.

Once you know what your hosting needs are and can compare the features and support offered by different hosting companies, you should be able to quickly narrow down the possible choices to a handful that meet your needs. Then, if all things are equal, you can base your decision on price. After all, as long as they provide good service and support and fit your needs and budget, then that company will probably provide the best web hosting for your new site.
